broken-hearted

Mr. Obama said, speaking to an audience of Republicans and Democrats and other leaders at the Washington Hilton hotel. “There is no God who condones taking the life of an innocent human being. This much we know.”

...is an unborn baby alive? is it human? it is surely more innocent than the rest of us. abortion is killing an innocent human being. there is no god who condones this. how can we?

things that people have picked up from our curb

if you're ever looking to get rid of some crap, set it out on the curb on a busy street on a busy day. if you put a price tag on it, it will still go, but it will take a few hours longer.

here's the list of things we've gotten rid of:


  • a dirty, ugly, round table that we found in the attic of our garage when we moved in. it looked like it came straight out of the 70's. mike said we had to get rid of it, but i said "no one will ever take ugly thing!" he set it on the curb and within 15 minutes a woman was putting it into her hatchback. she said her college student would love it. lol. i wish we had taken a picture of it. we were so amused that someone wanted that that we immediately began looking for other things to set out.

  • wooden bookshelf - we set this on the curb right after the dirty, ugly, round table went. someone tried to take this within ONE minute of our setting it on the curb. literally, i set it on the curb, walked back into the house, looked out the window, and someone was already trying to fit it in their car. it didn't fit in their car, and we ended up keeping it for garage shelving. come to think of it, i got this shelf off of another neighbor's curb. lol.

  • full size mattress, box spring, and frame. we got $35 for this set. it took about half a day to go.

  • t.v. - this one was listed for $5. someone stopped after a few hours and haggled us down to $2 (i'm not kidding). we took the $2 just to get rid of the guy.

  • two mirrors, one with a broken frame. gone within a couple of hours. weird.

  • a dresser that i got for free when i moved out of the Lothlorien Co-op. my uncle gave me a new dresser, so we passed my old one onto some new folks who were in need of a dresser (7/20/08)

  • a headboard that we got from Melinda when she moved to Texas.(7/20/08)

lunch.

jeni said something at lunch today that really struck me.

"i watched this show about this little boy in africa who works on a rock pile. he's worked there since he was 4 years old. his mom died in a landslide, so now he just lives by himself."

yeah. there are a lot of orphaned children in africa.

"i just don't understand how people can go to work every day when there's stuff like this going on in the world."
